Technische Medien wie Fernseher oder laptop haben mittlerweile einen großen Einfluss- bereits auf Kinder im Grundschulalter. Um dieser Natur- Entfremdung der modernen Kindheit entgegen zu wirken, müssen Kinder wieder mehr sensibilisiert werden für den Umgang mit der Natur und ihrer Umwelt.

Das Grundschulfach Heimat- und Sachunterricht spielt dabei eine große Rolle und hat aus didaktischer Sicht den Auftrag, Schüler und Schülerinnen dabei zu unterstützen, Zusammenhänge und Phänomene der Umwelt wahrzunehmen, zu erkennen und diese auch zu verstehen. Das Fach soll das Interesse an der Umwelt erhalten und fördern, sodass die Schüler und Schülerinnen einen verantwortungsvollen Umgang mit der Natur erlangen. Um diesem Ziel folgen zu können, muss ihnen die Abhängigkeit der lebenden von der nicht lebenden Natur bewusst werden.
